Okoboji Motor Company is Thankful for….

November 22nd, 2021 by

With Thanksgiving being a few days away, we wanted to express what we’re thankful for this year! We here at Okoboji Motor Company are thankful for all of our guests, family, and friends. As a car dealership, we also have our list of car stuff we’re thankful for!

  • Entertainment options – it’s only in recent years that you’ve had a variety of entertainment (or if you like, “infotainment”) options in your car. Older vehicles had AM/FM radio, and maybe a CD player. If you were lucky, your car had an auxiliary jack where you could plug in a cable from an MP3 player. Now, even in less expensive cars, you may have AM/FM, satellite radio, and capability to connect your phone for streaming music or news with Apple Car Play and Android Auto
  • Navigation – while some people will tell you that we’re losing our ability to read maps, there’s something pretty cool about telling your car where you want to go, and having it lead you there unerringly. Early mapping systems weren’t quite as good, occasionally leaving you in weird places, and navigation systems were only in pricy cars for a while.
  • Remote Start – while it’s not universally available, a lot of vehicles have remote start capabilities for their vehicle. Essentially an amazing feature to have, especially to brave the Iowa Winters. For Chevrolet and Buick, the feature is standard to be programmed into the key fob. Toyota has the access on their Toyota app to start your car from your phone.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control– This unique feature is designed to help vehicles maintain a safe following distance and stay within the speed limit while using their cruise control. This system adjusts the cars speed so the driver doesn’t have to.
  • Traction control – it’s hard to argue against the benefits of not sliding off the road or into objects and people. Traction control systems have become relatively universal, and the better ones are transparent in their efforts to keep you safe.
  • Blind Spot Monitor –If you’re used to looking over your shoulder to look for vehicles in the adjacent lanes, this feature will help relieve that neck pain. This uses a set of sensors on your vehicle to detect if a vehicle is approaching the sides of your car. If they sense something, your vehicle will alert you via an audible and/or visual warning.

If your car doesn’t have any of the stuff on this list that we’re thankful for, maybe it’s time for an upgrade! We’d like you to be thankful for your vehicle, just as we are for all these options!
